Dr. JINWON KIM
Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management at the University of Florida
Dr. Jinwon Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport Management at the University of Florida, USA. The overall goal of his research is to identify the role of recreation, park and tourism in the creation of active, vibrant, sustainable and resilient communities. Dr. Kim’s research has focused on four areas: 1) community recreation planning; 2) water-based recreation/tourism planning; 3) park and protected area planning and management; and 4) applications of Geographic Information System (GIS) and spatial technologies in tourism/recreation planning, development and management.
As a tourism/recreation geographer, Dr. Kim is especially interested in applying geospatial concepts and methodologies to problems that recreation or tourism managers face in their everyday decision making. His academic papers have been published in tourism, leisure, business, environmental planning, and community development journals. He has done several consulting projects for state and national organizations (e.g., Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and Korea National Park Service).
Dr. Kim received his Ph.D in Sustainable Tourism and Protected Area Management from Michigan State University, MS in Tourism, and BS in Geography from Kyung Hee University, Seoul, South Korea.
Dr. KYUNGSOO HAN
Professor, Department of Foodservice and Culinary Management at Kyonggi University in South Korea
Dr. Han will present titled “2018 Trends and Issues in Korea Food Industry. She has been serving as vice present of the Tourism Sciences Society of Korea (TOSOK) since 2015 and a board member of ApacCHRIE. She also served as president of Hotel & Food Management Federation of the TOSOK from 2011 to 2013 and the conference chair of the TOSOK international conference from 2015 to 2017.
Dr. BYUNGWOONG CHUNG
Professor, Department of Tourism Management at Soon Chun Hyang University in South Korea
Dr. Chung will present titled “Roles and Tasks of the Tourism Sciences Society of Korea (TOSOK) to Korea Tourism Industry and Academia.” He has been serving as senior vice president of the TOSOK since 2017 and will be president of the TOSOK in 2020. The TOSOK was founded in 1972 and is the first and largest society in South Korea for studying on Tourism. TOSOK supports scholars and researchers who study in tourism and hospitality industry. At present, they have over 3,000 members and host the annual international tourism conference in July.
Ms. KELLY MESSINA
Senior Director of Leisure Sales at Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority
Kelly Messina is the senior director of leisure sales for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). The LVCVA is the destination marketing organization for Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, and its mission centers on attracting visitors by promoting it as the world’s most desirable destination for leisure and business travel. The LVCVA also owns and operates the Las Vegas Convention Center. In her role, she oversees the domestic leisure market sales team. Prior to joining the LVCVA, she worked in the hotel industry for more than 20 years, including Hyatt, Harrah’s and Four Seasons where she served as senior travel industry sales manager. Her background includes revenue management as well as hotel marketing efforts to retail agencies, consortia and tour operators. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration. She served as chairperson for the annual Four Seasons Cancer Research fundraiser and is on the Board of Directors for Prost Las Vegas.
